The backyard of the Phakathi family is a fruitful place – there are banana plants, a guava tree, and sugar cane. Three boys braved the rain, prepared a vegetable bed and with the help of Emseni Farming, cabbages, green peppers and chillies were added to the family supply.

On 22 March 2025, Mr Mzi Ndlovu, together with his son, Nqubeko visited the Msinga area to teach a group of 40 community members how to plant vegetable seeds and seedlings. In an open, unused field, the Ngubane family went to work tilling the ground for a place to grow their own vegetables.
