On June 26, 2025, representatives from Emseni Farming—Mzikayise Ndlovu, Mfanifikile Khamo, and Janis—conducted a gardening workshop in the Ndwedwe community. The workshop included both theoretical and practical training on planting. It was sponsored by Emseni Farming and RTS Embeweni Place of Seed. At the Masikane Old Age Home, the ladies put in their efforts to prepare trays for planting and carefully plant different vegetable seeds. Sitholes are making sure they will have healthy vegetables to harvest and eat from their garden. We trust that this spinach and beetroot they have planted today will grow big and bring delicious food into the house.
The backyard of the Phakathi family is a fruitful place – there are banana plants, a guava tree, and sugar cane. Three boys braved the rain, prepared a vegetable bed and with the help of Emseni Farming, cabbages, green peppers and chillies were added to the family supply.

As much as it is important to plant, it is imperative that the plants are looked after and nourished. This involves going into the garden, weeding, watering the plants and applying fertliser. Here, these families are putting sawdust on the ground around the cabbage plants to keep the water from washing away the soil.
