A Day of Planting and Purpose

On 17 September 2025, Emseni Farming, in partnership with the MNFoundation, visited several schools under the Mpofana Municipality (Umzimkhulu) as part of a long-term school-based planting initiative. At the Vulekani Special School, our visit was attended by representatives from the Department of Education (CMC), including Chief Inspector Miss Ndlovu.
Miss Ndlovu commended the initiative, emphasizing its educational value: “This programme will greatly benefit our schools by teaching learners that food comes from the soil. It is essential that every school has a garden.”
The programme goes beyond agriculture. Emseni Farming and MNFoundation aim to support learners holistically by introducing motivational educational programmes and sports activities. Their goal is to inspire students and enhance learning environments.
During the visit, the team donated and planted a variety of trees and seedlings with the learners, including:
• Shadow trees
• Fruit trees
• Vegetables such as spinach, cabbage, and beetroot

The school’s principal, Mr. Dlamini, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the donation of avocado trees, lemon trees, and additional shade trees, noting the positive impact on both the school’s environment and its learners.
